Welcome to Africa

Hello,
Welcome to Africa, or at least welcome to my account of my year long tour in Djibouti, which is the closest many of you will ever come to Africa. I will try to give an accurate account of my fun and misery away from my family and friends while I am in the wonderful, entertaining, educational country of Djibouti. Check back for new pictures of my shipping container I call home, my desk, my map, and hopefully pictures of trash and sand as that will be my life for one year. Thanks and I look forward to hearing your comments on my version of "Djibouti sheik"!

Christmas before the deployment

So here I am in Lake Tahoe having a great time, eating great food, drinking tasty drinks, and snowboarding in the mountains. What do I have to look forward to next year, hot nasty African climate, malaria pills, a shipping container as a home, and a seven day work week...sounds like a great time. Christmas is tomorrow, my last Christmas until 2011. My last holiday for a year with my family. Thank you Navy for my wonderful African safari.
